Leherennus is a Celtic god worshipped in Gaul; he is likely to have had a martial aspect.
He was sometimes identified by the Romans with their god Mars by way of the interpretatio romana.
Myth
Unknown.
Cult
Leherennus received votive and dedicatory offerings from his worshippers; otherwise little is known of the specifics of his cult.
Etymology
The origin of Leherennus’ name is uncertain. I’ve seen it suggested that the god and his name predate the Celtic cultures, relating the name Leherennus to the Basque lehena or “first, primary.”
Region
Leherennus was worshipped in what is now south-western France, in the Pyrennees region.
