Name(s): Cliodhna, Clidna, Cleena.

Parents: She is the daughter of Gebann, chief druid of Manannan.

Spouse: Ciabham

Affiliations: Tuatha de Danann

Locations: Munster

Cliodhna is said to have a palace hidden within a grouping of stones and caves known as Carrigcleena.

Tales: In Acallam na Senórach, Cliodhna lived with her father and sisters at the Land of Promise; she met Ciabham when he traveled there, and the two fell in love and she left with him. They were pursued by a number of Manannan’s ships. Tragically, Cliodhna was soon drowned in a great wave known as the Wave of Cliodhna; this wave also destroyed fifty of the ships of Manannan mac Lir.

Other details: Cliodhna is credited with the creation of the Blarney Stone; those who kiss the stone are said to receive the gift of blarney, the ability to lie creatively and effectively.

She has magical song birds that lay eggs of red and blue; these birds eat apples from a tree in the otherworld, and can heal the sick with their song.

She is said to be queen of the fairies of Munster.

Cliodhna is included among the ancestors of a number of Irish families.
