Khonsu

Khonsu is an Egyptian god associated with the moon and with time itself.

He had a particular center of worship in the city of Thebes, where he was considered to be the son of Amun and Mut.

Khonsu is depicted here as a man with the head of a hawk, wearing the lunar crown as befits his role as a moon god. He carries the was staff, a symbol of power, in one hand and the ankh, a symbol of life, in the other.

In other art Khonsu was depicted in the form of a mummiform child, wearing the side-lock of youth and the lunar crown, and carrying the crook and flail.

Khonsu, path-finder, night-shining one, healer
and guardian, friend of women, I praise and honor you.
