Mafdet is an Egyptian goddess, a protector from venomous and poisonous beasts, and is associated with justice and law.
She is a very old goddess, known to be worshipped during the First Dynasty in Egypt. The origin of her cult is unknown.
Mafdet is depicted here as a woman with the head of a cheetah. She carries an executioner’s staff in one hand and the ankh, a symbol of life, in the other.
Mafdet, slayer of serpents, mistress of justice,
allotter of penance, I praise and honor you.
