Meretseger

Meretseger is an Egyptian goddess, a protector of tombs and patron of artisans and builders.

She was particularly beloved by the workers who built the tombs in the Valley of the Kings, where she was believed to live in the highest mountain peak.

Meretseger is depicted here as a woman with the head of a cobra. She carries the was staff, a symbol of power, in one hand and the ankh, a symbol of life, in the other.

Meretseger, great of judgment, guardian of kings,
lady of the great peak, I praise and honor you.
