Ptah is an Egyptian god associated with creation, both in his role as a creator god and as a patron of artists, artisans and builders. As a primordial creator he is considered to have no parent. He is the husband of Sekhmet.
He had a particular center of worship in Memphis, where he was a major deity.
Ptah is depicted here with green skin, representing rebirth and resurrection. He is wrapped in white like a mummy, stands upon a plinth, and carries a scepter incorporating several important elements, including the was staff of power, the djed of stability, and the ankh of life.
Great Ptah, merciful of face, friend of the maker,
whose words work upon the earth, I praise and honor you.
