Sekhmet is an Egyptian goddess associated with healing, war and battle, justice and vengeance. She is an Eye of Ra, an agent and protector of the sun-god.
She is a very old goddess who was worshipped throughout Egypt; she had a particular center of worship in the city of Memphis.
Sekhmet is depicted here as a woman with the head of a lioness and wears the sun disk and uraeus snake. She carries the was staff, a symbol of power, in one hand and the ankh, a symbol of life, in the other.
Sekhmet may also be depicted in the full form of a lioness.
Sekhmet, most mighty and most beautiful of gods,
healer of humanity, I praise and honor you.
