Sokar

Sokar is an Egyptian god associated with death and the dark. He has the responsibility of helping the soul from the body after death.

Sokar is also associated with the art of metalwork and is a patron of those who work those crafts.

He had a particular focus of worship at Memphis.

He is depicted here as a mummiform man with the head of the hawk, holding the was staff, a symbol of power, in both hands.

Sokar of the opened wings, lord of the dark,
master of artisans, I praise and honor you.
